Bill is a native of Dyer County growing up in the Lenox community, moving to Newbern as a young man, and living in and around Dyersburg for the last 48 years. Educated in the Dyer county education system he graduated from Dyersburg High School and Dyersburg State Community College. He started his professional career with Dyersburg Cotton Products (later Dyersburg Fabrics) where he worked in various managerial capacities for 45 years.After the Cotton Mill, ceased operations in 2001, Bill joined the staff of Curry Funeral Home on a part time basis. Having an interest in the funeral profession, he applied for enrollment in the apprenticeship program to become a licensed funeral director. After receiving his license, he worked full time at Curry Funeral Home until 2009 when he entered semiretirement. Finding idleness not to his liking, he has rejoined the staff at Curry Funeral Home in 2013.Bill is married to the former Janie Lay of Bogota and has one daughter, Kym Sanders of Greenfield, TN, and one granddaughter, Kaitlyn. He is an elder of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Dyersburg, treasurer of Dyersburg Live on Stage, board member of the Dyerburg/Dyer County Historical Society and a member of the Dyersburg Choral Society.
