Dustye L. Brixey

Dustye Brixey went to Heaven on February 2, 2018. Dustye Lea Jones was born January 2, 1948 in Porterville, California to Quinton and Marquetta Jones. In 1964, her family moved from Porterville to Fresno when her father took a job with the State of California. Dustye graduated from Fresno High School in 1966. Then in 1966 she moved with her parents to Ventura where she attend Ventura Community College and worked at the local phone company. While in Ventura, she and her husband gave birth to Kimberly in 1970. She later moved to Visalia where her youngest daughter Jennifer was born in 1977.  Visalia was Dustye’s home for many years. While in Visalia she enjoyed entertaining friends at her country home. She loved going camping, visiting the family’s cabin at Sequoia Crest and playing cards. She was active in the Visalia Masonic Lodge as the Bethel Guardian to Job’s Daughter. She was considered the “fun” mom that her daughters’ friends always gravitated towards. She always provided a good listening ear and soft bed to friends in need. In 1992, she moved to Hanford. There she became a grandmother and what an amazing “Grammy” she was. The grand kids always enjoyed slumber parties at Grammy and Papa’s where they were always given a homemade breakfast the next morning. She loved cooking and going out to eat. She was an original “foodie” in her little kitchen. She could try a new entrée once and come back to the house recreate it for the family to enjoy. When she wasn’t busy being Grammy she loved to garden, travel and read books. Dustye is survived by her daughter and son in law Kim and Steve Batty of Visalia, grand daughters Katherine German and Brooke Rouch and great granddaughter Zoe Sanchez. She is also survived by Oscar & Missy Lucio and grand children Tyler and wife Nikita, Taylor and husband Andrew, and Maggie, plus great grandchildren, Evelyn, Londyn, and Marcus. Monte & Leeann Paden and grandchildren Conner, Annikha, Zechariah, and Micah.    She is preceded in death by; daughter Jennifer Rouch, parents Quinton and Marquetta Jones, and brother Stephen Wayne Jones. Services for Dustye Brixey are on February 16, 2018 at 11:00am at Hadley Marcom Funeral Home, Visalia, CA.
