Alice E. Parriera

d. January 9, 2021

Alice Elizabeth Parriera (July 6, 1945-January 9,2021) Alice was born in Tulare, California to Joe C. and Mary(Correia) Salles. She graduated from Tulare Union H.S. in 1963. Alice worked for John Leal many different times in her life. As well for herself for a short time buying, hauling and feeding baby calves. She worked for Frank and David Macedo at Tulare sales Yard as a bid caller in the livestock auction ring. That is how "The lady in the cowboy hat" eventually came to be. Every Tuesday "The lady in the hat was there." She helped many people buy an animal and they never forgot it. Later on Alice together with her sister Mary Rose re opened Salles Cafe after being closed a few years. They later sold the cafe that still bares the family name to this day. When Tulare Sales Yard moved across town Alice ran the cafe on sale days. She also worked in the cafeteria at Tulare Union H.S. for many years. She really enjoyed rolling her cart out at lunch and enter acting with the teens. Alice also coached Richards Little League team(Giotto's Alarm Tech). She rarely missed a game his whole life. Always there to coach him. He could always hear her. These different jobs allowed for her kids to spend lots of time right by her side, learning and working. She wanted us to have a country life with many dogs, cats, goats, steers, a pony and even a duck. Alice took many of us under her wing when we were young and changed our lives. To her kids she will always be our hero. Alice loved the Dodgers and the Rams. Never changing teams. If they were playing she loved to watch. She liked many sports and preferred to watch them rather than other things on T.V. Alice is survived by her son Richard Salles, daughter Shelly Hyles(J.O.) stepdaughters Felicia Silva & Veronica Hays. Sister Mary Salles Dennis(Jack), nephew Kevin Rocha and his daughter Stephanie Rocha. Sister in law Jean Salles nephews, Stephen, Richard and Mark. And her loving dog Sadie. Also preceded in death by her father Joe C. Salles, mother Mary C. Salles, her brother Joseph Salles, ex husband John Parriera and the love of her life Alfonso Flores.
