Betty Margaret Goodin

March 16, 1926 — February 7, 2023

Betty Margaret Goodin, loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great & Great Great Grandmother, passed away in her sleep on February 7th 2023. She was born on March 16th 1926 to Elmer and Lucille Allen in Fallbrook California. She attended school in Fallbrook and worked at the Sunkist lemon packing house. She met Jack Goodin in school and they worked together at the packing house. They were married on July 8th 1948. They had 2 boys, Tom and Jim, and in 1953 they moved to northern California. In 1963 they welcomed a baby girl Sandra. Betty spent most of her life as a homemaker, wife and mother and occasionally worked at a few different jobs. She worked at the school cafeteria while her kids were in school and also worked as a housekeeper and as a caregiver. Betty was always helping others. In 1972 the family moved to Visalia California, due to the fact that Jack was transferred for work. Betty had different hobbies over the years. Sewing, crocheting and gardening to name a few. She also kept busy babysitting her grandchildren. She loved her grandkids very much and enjoyed being around them. The greatest joy of Betty's life was her dedication and devotion to Christ. She spent many years volunteering at church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and provided transportation for those with none, to and from church. She worked in women’s and outreach ministries. Betty loved doing work for the church and attending every service she could go to. When the Billy Graham crusade came to Visalia, Betty sang in the choir for the crusade. She was there every night. Betty counseled many young mothers and those who were recently saved. She always had religious tracts in her purse and left them for everyone and everywhere. Even on road trips she would leave them at rest stops, in rest rooms, on the table for waitresses, Everywhere. Hers was a life dedicated to Christ. Betty loved to laugh and in her own words "be silly". She loved to be out in nature and breathe in the fresh air, in the mountains. She loved to camp and always made camping fun for her kids. She could name every flower she saw and loved to take cuttings so she could add them to her own flower garden. The seed and bulb catalogs were always exciting to get in the mail. Betty was a sweet, loving human being and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. From the grocery store clerks to the staff at Prestige who cared for her in the last few months of her life, she was loved immensely. Her family can’t imagine a life without her in it. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Elmer & Lucille Allen, her brother Dale Allen and her husband Jack Goodin, grandchildren, Krystal Goodin and Russell Goodin. She is survived by her children; Tom (Judy) Goodin, Jim (Jean) Goodin, Sandy (Greg) Meinhold. Grandchildren; Melody Simmons, Shana Dawson, Warren Goodin, Kathrine Culbertson. 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held at Visalia Cemetery, Tuesday, February 14th at 12:00 pm. Services in care of Hadley Marcom Funeral Chapel.
