Clarence Edward Risenhoover

January 15, 1941 — May 15, 2022

Clarence Edward Risenhoover was born on January 15, 1941 and died on May 15, 2022 at home surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maria Justina Risenhoover, whom he met and married in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico while serving as a fireman in the United States Air Force. He is also survived by his daughters, Shirley Kay Verduzco and Linda Nanette Risenhoover, and his sons, Benjamin LaDon Risenhoover and Christopher Scott Risenhoover and their families, including grandchildren and great grandchildren. Eddie, as he is fondly remembered, was born in Maysville, Oklahoma to Carl Woodrow and Lillian Thelma Risenhoover. He was one of eight children, having five brothers and two sisters. The family moved to Delano, California when Clarence was a young child. Clarence worked most of his adult years as a mechanic servicing wind machines for farmers to protect crops during the freezing winters. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed camping, spending time with family, and working on his 1963 Chevy C10. We love you, Daddy. The world was a better place with you in it. Your humor and quick wittedness brought us joy. Thank you for the loyalty you showed to our family, prioritizing our needs over your own. Thank you for modeling unconditional love toward family, friends, and strangers. You were never too busy to help those in need. Thank you for working on our cars. Thank you for building a bus stop shelter to keep us from the rain. Thank you for caring for us when we were sick. Thank you for the haircuts, birthday cakes, peanut butter and syrup sandwiches, colored Cream of Wheat just for fun, and fish-smelling hot dogs on our fishing trips. You are right, Daddy, “if everybody had [your] love, there’d be no hate in the world.”
