1951 David 2024

David Felix Castro

December 3, 1951 — April 1, 2024

David F. Castro was born on December 3rd, 1951 in Visalia, CA and passed on April 1st, 2024 in Tulare, surrounded by his entire family. David is preceded in death by his baby Melissa, Mother Esty Castro, Father Celestino Castro, and goddaughter/niece Valerie. David was the eldest of five children. He was also a Vietnam Veteran who earned a Purple Heart as a combat soldier for the US Army after two tours of duty. David was a member of the 101st Airborne Division Screaming Eagles.

Once settled back in the valley he married his best friend, Trini. David was a great dad to his two children, Phillip and Celina. They knew he was always there for them and would do absolutely anything for his children. He loved spending time with them no matter what they were doing. The lessons he taught them will carry on long after his passing.

David also had two grandchildren, Sophia and Victor (Boo Boo). They were his whole world, and he lit up anytime they were around. Even just talking about them, he had a glow; you could see the love in his eyes any time they were mentioned. He will always be their Papa.

Known as Tio David to the younger generation, his love touched every member of his family until his final moments. David was also blessed with four goddaughters. He had nicknames for just about everyone and had personal connections with each and every loved one. David enjoyed road trips with the family and watching his grandkids play sports. His devoted love for the World Champion LA Rams, Dodgers and Lakers, created a loyal fanbase that runs deep in his family and will resonate for generations to come. David made sports fun and taught so many life lessons through simple conversations and genuine respect. David also loved his four Chevy vehicles, camping, BBQ’s and anything that involved fun, music, family and friends. He hosted the annual Easter party and was always in charge of the events and the famous jellybean count.

David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Trini, son Phillip, daughter Celina (aka his Yougi), son in law Victor, granddaughter Sophia, grandson Victor (aka Boo Boo), brother Martin, sister Rita and her husband Paul, sister Sandra and her husband Jr, sister Julie and her husband Sac, sister-in-law Fina and her husband Blaz, sister-in-law Selia and her husband Tony, and many close nieces and nephews. David was adamant that he wanted to be close to family and at home in Tulare for his remaining time. He talked to loved ones about sticking together, remaining strong and carrying on the family traditions that he helped build.

As we reflect on the memories that David blessed us with, his legacy as the Patriarch of the Castro family will not be forgotten. The personal connections that he built will be embedded in every elder and young person that was lucky enough to have a relationship with him. RIP David. The mission is complete.
