Doris Louise Dean Beloved "Grandma DD" Doris Louise Dean, 90, passed away peacefully November 11, 2021 at her granddaughter’s home in Visalia, with family by her side. Doris was born in 1931 in Hanford, CA., to Alvin and Edna Robison. She married Howard Dean in 1949 and moved to Fresno, CA. where they raised their five children until moving to Visalia, CA. in 1974. Doris was dedicated to children and spent her life caring for them. She was very involved with charity work through her sorority Epsilon Sigma Alpha-Iota Beta Chapter, worked as a daycare provider for over 60 years, was a foster parent, and dedicated nursery volunteer at her church. Doris was an avid collector of antiques, dolls, and toys. She took a job at Kaybee Toy Store in the 1980’s, where she delighted in gifting the latest toys to her grandchildren. Doris’ hobbies were needlepoint and gardening. Her beautiful rose garden was admired by many. She also enjoyed traveling whenever the opportunity arose and spending time with her grandchildren. Doris is survived by her children, Linda Mason, Virginia Andres, Carolyn Lopez, Gary Dean, and Janice McCarthy; her granddaughter and full time caregiver, Michelle Brooks; 13 grandchildren; brother Robert Robison; nieces, nephews, and many honorary grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, brother Bernard, granddaughter Bethany, and son in laws Mark and Richard. Grandma DD especially will be remembered for her fiery spirit and generous heart. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
