Kenneth Robert Lott, 81, of Visalia, CA passed away peacefully on March 12th, with family by his side. Born to the late Joel & Louise Lott, on September 28th, 1941, in Taft, CA., Ken grew up in the San Joaquin Valley of California. He graduated from Corcoran High School in 1959, where the friends he made remained close and dear throughout his life. Route 66 and business opportunities brought Ken to Chicago in 1966 where, shortly after arriving, he co-founded Lott & Monehen Marketing which he built into a powerhouse manufacturer’s representative operation that thrives to this day. Ken rooted and raised his family in Oak Brook, IL, where he actively contributed his talents coaching and cheering at countless kids’ sports activities and serving as a trustee on the Oak Brook Park District Board. The loving father of Bob (Anne Robinson) Lott, Steve (Ruth) Lott, Betsy (Keith Chval) Roca, and Jason (Lorri) Lott, Ken also took great pride and joy as “papa” to his grandchildren: Evan Lott, Joel & Tallulah Lott, Riley, Kate, and Alex Roca, and Luke Lott. He is also survived by his brothers Jerry Lott and Rodney Lott. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his former wife and lifelong friend, Anne Lott. Always active, there wasn’t a sport that Ken did not enjoy competing in, mastering all that he tried. Ken was a stand-out high school athlete, competing in football, basketball, baseball, and track & field. Never losing his competitive spirit, his adult years were filled with adventures as well: downhill skiing, marathons, cycling, and competing in masters track meets; throwing the javelin well into his 70’s. In later years, Route 66 would lead him back to his cherished Morro Bay, CA, where he ultimately retired. He filled his days with golf, long distance motorcycle rides, and travel and adventures with his longtime companion, Nancy Oliveira. Ken was the guy you’d turn to if you were in a jam. You could count on him for a pep talk, sage advice, and sometimes a swift kick if needed. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for the boyish twinkle in his eye, and the laughter and love he brought to his friends and family. A memorial will be held in late spring.
