Lincoln Herbert Hall

August 13, 1927 — June 29, 2018

Lincoln Herbert Hall, Jr.   (August 13, 1927 – June 29, 2018)   Lincoln was born in Pasadena, CA to Lincoln H. Hall, Sr. and Jean Walling. He was raised in Santa Paula, CA, where he graduated from Santa Paula High, class of 1945. Upon graduation, Lincoln joined the U.S. Navy, where he attended signalman school and was assigned to a patrol craft in the Philippines during World War Two.   Once discharged, Linc attended Ventura Junior College, Pomona College, and UCLA to complete his B.S. degree in Finance and Economics. He then entered Claremont Graduate University to complete his M.A. in Economics. Immediately upon graduation, Linc returned to active duty in the Navy during the Korean War, where he attended supply officer’s school and was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.   After being released from active duty in 1954, Linc went to work for the Pacific Telephone Co. in Oakland, CA. It was then that he decided to become a teacher. He attended UC Berkeley in the evenings to earn his teaching credential; then taught history, economics and civics at Antioch High in the East Bay.   In 1957 he moved to Visalia, where he began teaching economics at College of the Sequoias. It was then that Linc met the love of his life, Gerry Vogel, a teacher of business classes at the college. They were married in 1960. While working in a variety of  administrative  roles at COS, Linc earned his Doctorate in Education from USC. In 1981, he left COS to become president of Reedley College. Two years later, Linc returned to COS, where he served as superintendent/president until his retirement in 1991. Three weeks prior to retirement, Linc was asked to serve as interim president of a community college in Southern California. He accepted, and enjoyed it so much that he went on to serve in interim positions at twelve community colleges.   Lincoln and Gerry were married nearly 60 years. Theirs was a love story for the ages. They were soul mates that did everything together: sailing on multiple cruises, travelling to the Middle East and China. They loved dancing together, and were members of a dance group for many years. Everyone who knew Linc agreed that he was an extremely kind man. Linc loved his animals, and was often seen holding a dog or taking it on long walks. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather (“Boppa”) and great-grandfather.   Lincoln and Gerry spent their last year and a half living together at Quail Park Memory Care, in Visalia, with Gerry passing just four months prior to Linc. The family wishes to thank the staff at Quail Park Memory Care and Sojourn Hospice for their respectful, compassionate care. There are angels among us.   Lincoln Hall is survived by daughters Sharon McKinney (Russell) and June Parker (Steve), son Brad Hall (Deanne); grandchildren  Kristin McKelvey (Matt), Russell McKinney (Kristen), Sharon Joseph (Jeff), Shannon Siegenthaler (Jackie), Anna Lewis (Elliot), Joe Parker (Hun-Hae), Dustin Hall, Eva Hall, Kelsey Qualls (Justin) and Melissa Tashjian; great-grandchildren, Connor McKelvey, Carson McKelvey, Caeden McKelvey, Camryn McKelvey, Cian McKelvey, Collin McKinney, Kieran McKinney, Ian Joseph, Everett Joseph, Ellis Joseph, Goldie Siegenthaler, Geri Siegenthaler, Kendra Lewis, Broxton Lewis, Parker Lewis, and Nikolau Lewis; sister Marilyn Ulvaeus and nieces Karen, Marta and Linda.   Viewing will be held from 9am-10am on July 19th, 2018 at Hadley- Marcom Funeral Chapel located at 1700 W.
