Gene is beloved and missed by many.
Gene was born on September 6, 1934, in Wynona, OK. He graduated from Delano High School and then continued his education with an Associate’s degree from Compton College. He married the love of his life, Norma Jo, on February 25,1957; then proceeded to build a loving home with her and their two wonderful boys Randy and Craig, in Downey, CA. During the early years of his career, Gene held multiple positions within Ford Motor Company, before pursuing his life’s passion with a position in law enforcement. He proudly retired as a Sergeant, after over 20 years of exceptional service from the Los Angeles Police Department. After retirement, Gene and Norma expanded on an unforgettable antique business that brought them many travels, friends, and treasures. Gene approached every situation and every person he encountered with a gentle spirit and a strong resolve, characteristics that earned him the deep respect and admiration of colleagues, family, and friends alike.
Gene's can-do outlook on life was not confined to just his professional and familial achievements. He was a man of immense talent and artistic flair, particularly when it came to his love for music and wood working. As an enthusiastic band member and saxophonist in a local band, Gene brought joy and rhythm to numerous performances across Central California in the1950s.
Gene’s impact on those around him cannot be overstated. He was a beacon of class, intelligence, and kindness—a true gentleman in every sense of the word. His devotion as a devoted father, loving son, brother, uncle, a playful (great)grandfather, and a dedicated husband was evident to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
While we may no longer have him with us in this world, his legacy will continue to guide and inspire us for generations to come. His spirit has returned to God who gave it.
