NABOR NAVARRETTE GOMEZ

March 15. 1934 – August 20, 2024

An end of an era has come to the family of Nabor Navarrette Gomez. Surrounded by his family and relatives, Nabor passed away on August 20, 2024, at the age of 90.

Nabor was born on March 15, 1934, in Sierra Blanca, Texas to Miguel Gomez and Eufemia Navarrette Gomez. He was the second oldest of ten siblings. Four brothers, Miguel Jr. (Mike), Margarito (Bob), Jose (Joe) and Fred. Five sisters, Fidelia (Nena), Cecelia, Jessie, Josephine (Josie) and Christina.

In 1947, at 13, Nabor moved to California where his parents settled in Goshen. At the age of 26, Nabor married Mercedes Zamora Marquez (Mercy) on December 8, 1960. He became a new Dad to Linda Renteria, Michael Marquez (Bear) and Eva Nunes (Margie). Nabor and Mercy added seven more boys to their family, Noel, Raymond, Abel, Peter and Paul, Vincent and Orlando (Ducky). He worked at the Visalia Courthouse, Mooney Grove Park and the Tulare County Government Plaza. After 25 years of service, he retired as Head Groundkeeper in October 2014.

Nabor enjoyed watching his cowboy movies, NASCAR races. He loved bowling, playing baseball and softball. He is most definitely remembered as a pitcher for the Goshen Eagles.

Nabor was probably best known for playing the guitar in a group of friends, at parties and at church. He was especially requested to play at family get-togethers.

Nabor was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. He was rarely seen without his Dallas Cowboys hat. He stayed committed to his Cowboys in good years and bad years. GO DALLAS!!!
