Orlando "Ducky" Jesse Gomez Sr.

September 11, 1974 — June 23, 2022

Orlando Jesse Gomez Sr. “Ducky” With the heaviest of hearts and deepest of sorrow, the family of Orlando Jesse Gomez Sr., announces his passing on June 23, 2022. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he made a commitment to himself to fight until the end… and he did just that. After 5 years of fighting and complications from his condition, it finally wore him down. He passed away at the age of 47, in his Visalia home, surrounded by his family and friends. Orlando Jesse Gomez Sr. was born Sept. 11, 1974 at Kaweah Delta Medical Center, Visalia, CA to Mercy M. Gomez and Nabor N. Gomez. He was the youngest of 10 children, having two sisters (Linda and Eva) and seven brothers (Michael, Noel, Raymond, Abel, Peter, Paul, and Vincent). He held a special position in the family, “The Baby”. As a baby, his oldest brother would hold him up, with one hand and say, “Fly, Ducky, Fly”. And to this day, that is the name everyone knew him by. Our one and only “Ducky”. Ducky and his wife, Tracy Gomez, have three sons (Michael, O.J. Jr., and Christopher) and a foster son (Brandon). He was definitely blessed with his mother’s golden heart. Ducky had a natural talent for sports. He excelled at baseball and football. His abilities led him to be the Varsity Quarterback for the Mt. Whitney High School “Pioneers”. “Go Maroon and White”. Ducky was a bib “Angels” fan and a die hard “Raiders” fan. It was always intense to see him argue a bad call against the Raiders. “F’ the Patriots! Go Raiders!!!!” Ducky’s work career ended as a Truck Driver for Golden State Overnight (GSO). Working long hours, alongside his brother Vincent, his cousin Bobby Marquez, and his son OJ Jr. There was always drama to complain about or an incident to joke about. He was a provider until the end. Ducky was always down for a party, get-together, or BBQ. It was his nature to take full advantage of a good time or an opportunity to kick back and relax. He brought a fun-loving spirit to any gathering. He will be extremely missed. Ducky was preceded in death by his mother Mercy, and brothers Peter and Abel. He is survived by his father Nabor, sisters Linda and Eva, brothers Michael, Noel, Raymond, Paul, Vincent, wife Tracy, sons OJ Jr., Christopher, Michael San Miguel, Brandon Stillwell, grandchildren Jaden, Jordan, and Ivy Rose, and God-son Gilbert Galaviz. Family and Friends are welcome to bring mementos to be placed with him. Viewing will be held at Hadley Marcom Funeral Chapel on July 8, 2022 from 4-7 PM with a rosary prayed at 6 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on July 9, 2022 at 8:30 AM. Followed by burial at Visalia Public Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. Mary’s Hall from 12 noon to 5 PM. Condolences may be offered by logging onto www.hadley-marcom.com
