Roland Kreps

September 6, 1944 — April 10, 2020

Roland W. Kreps passed away on April 10, 2020. He was born on September 6, 1944 in Hanford, CA to Claude and Zella Kreps. The youngest of 4 boys, he attended Elementary and Junior High Schools in Morro Bay and San Luis, then graduated from Lemoore High School in 1962. After Junior College, he enlisted in the United States Air Force proudly serving in the Philippines and Crete, Greece. Roland married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Lucille Starrett celebrating 54 years together. They resided in Visalia where they raised their two children, Cheryl and Rich. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Zella Kreps, and beloved brothers Russell, Richard, and Robert. Roland never met a stranger and befriended people everywhere he went. He was a faithful Wagon Master for the Visalia Elks Vagabonds, was an active RV adventurist, loved participating in projects around the house, and mastered the art of gardening, becoming our favorite Gardenologist. His love of the outdoors and family was best represented at The Cabin which his Grandfather homesteaded. He was in his element while giving tractor rides to the youngins’, cutting wood, dragging the dirt road, and finishing the day with his famous high ball while throwing some horseshoes. He informed all his cherished nieces and nephews, that he was their “Favorite Uncle” and they willingly agreed. He loved being the second Dad to the many friends of Cheryl and Rich. He was known for teasing but remembered for his love. Roland is survived by his wife, Lucille Kreps, children Cheryl and husband Tom Oliveira, Rich and wife Lee Kreps and his adored Granddaughters, Kendra and Hannah Oliveira, bonus Grandchildren Kate, Andrew and wife Tiffany Jones and Great Granddaughter, Rylee Jones. His family would like to thank all his friends and family for their love, prayers, food, and porch visits during this time of separation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
