Steve was born in Oxnard, CA to Oarland A. Rush Jr. and Connie L. Rush. The family moved to Visalia, CA in 1962 where Steve was active in scouting and youth baseball. After moving to Southern California he met the love of his life, Jana Hofstee. They married in 1980 and established a home in Winchester, CA. He received a contractors’ license and was the owner/operator of All Valley Overhead Doors for over three decades. Steve loved camping, fishing, traveling and being with family. After being diagnosed with lung cancer in the summer of 2019, he retired. He passed away peacefully in Visalia surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by: Oarland A. Rush Jr. (father); Oarland A. Rush Sr. and Neva Rush (grandparents); Earl and Velma Briggs (grandparents); Fred Rush (great-uncle) Ann Criner (aunt); Jan Harris (mother-in-law) and John Stockwell (brother-in-law). He is survived by: Jana Rush, his wife of 41 years; Connie Rush (mother); Barbara (Phil) Jones; (sister) Brothers: Jeff (Maxine) Rush, Charles (Elaine) Rush, and Fred Rush; Brother-In-Law Daryl (Lisa W.) Hofstee; Sisters-in Law: Linda Stockwell, Cheryl (Jim) Pyle; Nephews: Andrew (Sevrin, London and Kira) Losh; Shaun (Mallory and Addison) Black, Brent (Zoe) Hofstee, Nickalaus (Logan) Hofstee, Travis Losh; Alex Rush and Jonathan Pyle; Nieces: Renee (husband Keaton, Ava, Asher; Audrey, Addison) Hoskins, Corrie (Caleb and Maddie) Cruise, Carly Stockwell; Anneke (husband Danny, Willow and Ford) Peckham;, Amanda (husband Nick, Carter) Cramer, Holly (Kaili and Taylor) Cramer; Charles and Madeline Briggs (uncle and aunt) and many, many beloved cousins. Steve was a beloved son, husband, brother, and uncle who will be remembered for the way he treated all with kindness and respect and for always being ready to help. His body may have lost his battle to cancer, but his spirit continues to live on in us all. Private services to be held later.
