William "Bill" Theodore Thompson

August 24, 1942 — January 14, 2022

On Friday, January 14, 2022 William "Bill" Thompson of Farmersville, CA passed away at the age of 79. William was born to William "Ted" and Ethel "Maness" Thompson on August 24, 1942 in Visalia, CA. and continued living in Visalia and Farmersville until his passing. William was a very happy and low key guy. Growing up William loved the sport of baseball and he always had someone to play with because he had 3 brothers and 2 sisters as playmates. In those days there was no "Electronics or TV" so it was playing outside all day long, riding bikes, playing ball, marbles and any game they could make up. He also helped take care of a few animals. William went to grade school and High School in Visalia graduating from Mt. Whitney. Soon after he met and married Frankie Dixon of Farmersville and a son Bill Mack was born. After working and retiring from the Tulare County Parks Department William was not idle. He spent many years in charge of the concession stand and the oar and paddle boats at Mooney Grove Park. He was also known for cooking the best hamburgers at Stockmens, located in the Visalia Sales Yard. William and Frankie raised their son, Bill Mack, who was lucky to play at Cutler Park where William worked and they lived for many years. In later years William and Frankie enjoyed their Friday morning breakfast and doing anything they felt like, until Frankie's passing 3 years ago. William is survived by his son Bill Mack, brother Wesley Thompson (Barbie) of Visalia, sisters Barbara Mahan of Arkansas and Mary Lou Hunter of Visalia, several nephews and nieces, one special niece Ashlye Payne who helped to take care of him during his illness. William had a giving heart and was willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. William was loved and will be missed by many. By his request no services will be held. A private viewing will be Friday, January 21.
